CHAIRMAN OF THIRUKKOVIL PRADESHIYA SABHWA KILLED BY LTTE

Mr.Tillenayagam Udayakumar(34) – the Chairman of Thirukkovil Pradeshiya Sabhawa in Ampara district was killed by LTTE terrorists on 28^th June 2007 while he was at his private residence in Vinayagapuram.

According to the reliable sources, LTTE terrorists have thrown a hand grenade towards him around 8.45pm on Thursday while he was chatting with one of his friends at his residence. Due to the bomb blast Mr. Udayakumar was seriously wounded and admitted to Ampara Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

11 LTTE TIGERS WERE KILLED IN MAVIL ARU

Media Centre for National Security confirmed that 11 LTTE tiger terrorists who were fleeing away from Thoppigala jungles were killed in an attack carried out by SL Security Forces at Mavil Aru in Trincomalee district on 28^th June 2007.

Eleven T-56 Weapons, three hand grenades, communication equipments were found in a search operations carried out later. No casualties reported from SL Security Forces.

NO BAIL FOR LONDON TIGER LEADER

Arunachalam Chrishanthakumar alias A.C.Shanthan – the London Tiger leader who has been arrested by the Terrorists Investigation division of Scotland Yard Police on 21^st June 2007 was produced before City of Westminster Magistrate Court on 28^th June 2007. Meanwhile a bail application was submitted by his lawyer and it was turned down by the Magistrate. By rejecting the bail application, Magistrate ordered Police to remand him until 5^th July 2007

It is also reported when Police searched the residence of A.C.Shanthan they found a suicide kit, modern weapons and war materials.

NO MORE PRIVATIZATION IN SRI LANKA – PERC TO BE ABOLISHED

SL President Mahinda Rajapaksha has taken a decision to abolish Public Enterprises Reform Commission (PERC) with immediate effect and the relevant cabinet paper was submitted to the SL Cabinet on 27^th June 2007.

PERC has been established in SL to privatize public enterprises and up to now nearly 100 public enterprises have been privatized on the recommendations of PERC. When Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksha came into power in November 2005, he has given a sound promise that no more privatization will take place in SL during his regime.

LTTE ATTACK ON AVARANTHALAWA IN VAVUNIA REPULSED

LTTE attack on Avaranthalawa village located 14km away from Vavunia was repulsed by SL Army on Wednesday early morning. Military spokesman Brigadier Prasaad Samarasinghe said that LTTE had launched said attack by using small arms in order to chase away the villagers from that area. However, Brigadier confirmed that SL Army together with Home Guards providing security for Avaranthalawa village repulsed the LTTE attack.

During the retaliation, three SL security personnel and two Home Guards sacrificed their lives, military sources revealed. No casualties reported from the villagers.
