Await False Propaganda
by LTTE |
|
27 Oct
.2006
(Update-10.00)
In
the wake of negotiations to be held in Geneeva between the
Government of Sri Lanka and the LTTE attempts by pro LTTE
media groups have begun to emerge aimed at disrupting talks.
Pro LTTE propaganda elements have disseminated a false news
report yesterday regarding a sea battle between the Navy and
the Sea tigers in the Kilali lagoon, Jaffna. The Sri Lanka
Navy has confirmed that there was no confrontation with the
sea tigers in the Kilali bay. Naval sources further stress
that neither Gun Boats nor Fast Attack Craft could operate
in the Kilaly lagoon due to depth constrains. The Navy
operates only small boats in the lagoon area. It is believed
that the motive of this false reporting is to mislead the
international community and the Co-chairs prior to the
negotiations scheduled to take place on October 28-29, in
Geneva.
Pro LTTE media has also reported of an Army offensive
towards Vaharai in the East today. The Security Forces have
not even intended to move out of their detachments towards
uncleared areas. The Defence Forces completely deny the
fabricated media reports disseminated by LTTE sympathetic
media groups.
